our story of freedom

A journey of love

There exists a story of love between two people. Two people made for each other. Together they overflow with perfect love. But they have been separated. Both are distraught and in anguish because they are apart.

With complete selflessness, one gives up everything except their love, and completes an impossible journey to be with their lover

But their lover is so overcome with sorrow and so burdened by loss that they cannot see their saviour approach. Deeply ashamed and still in pain, they hide. Forgetting who they are, they sit in the dark and dirt of despair. But their lover is persistent and continues to love them and pour themselves out for them in any way they can.

Then one day, the sorrowful lover lifts their head and sees again the love their lover has for them. Like a flower turning to warm bright sunshine, the sorrowful lovers begins to stand and turns to their lover. Their dirty blankets of despair and sorrow fall away and they again are free to embrace their lover. They hold tight, feeling again the warmth and peace of lost love.

And they never let go.

Why inFreedom?

That story is in the bible. The lover on the journey it calls Jesus. The lover waiting now, and pouring out love, it calls the Holy Spirit. The sorrowful lover is you, me and the world. In this story our journey isn't a journey at all as our lover has done it all. It is simply to stand, to turn, and to know that our lover comes for us.

Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

At inFreedom we know that sometimes it's hard even just to stand. We're here to give a helping hand along the way. To provide the environment that makes it easier to see that we're worth it and that we can be loved.

  • Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.

    Jean-Paul Sartre

What freedom looks like

Peaceful

In an unknown world of anxiety and stress, Jesus said: receive my peace.

Healed

Beyond survival — living life to the full. Fully human and fully whole. We walk the walk and continue the journey, not as those who have won the race, but as fellow travellers being healed.

Whole

To be transformed by the renewing of our minds. As the kintsugi pot shows its scars in its beauty, so we know that we are a result of our trials and traumas — and our brokenness is part of our whole.
